Ttimley's Happiest Chaos
The Felixstowe Lions Club Dog Show returns to Trimley Sports and Social Club on 17th May 2026.By mid-morning, the Trimley Sports…
and Social Club will be a joyful tangle. Leads, wagging tails, and excited barks fill the air. It’s a familiar sound, a sign that summer approaching. With it comes one of the town's most endearing community gatherings.
This is the annual Felixstowe Lions Club Dog Show. It's a fixture on the local calendar, bringing together dogs of all shapes and sizes. Their owners are equally enthusiastic. Run by the Felixstowe Lions Club, a group dedicated to local charity work, the event is less about pedigree. It's more about participation. It’s a chance for pets to shine. Whether they’re a perfectly groomed poodle or a scruffy, much-loved mongrel, it doesn't really matter.
The Lions Club has been organising this event for years. They raise funds for local causes while providing a genuinely fun day out. Expect a variety of classes. From 'Waggiest Tail' and 'Best Rescue' to 'Dog the Judge Would Most Like to Take Home'. Rosettes are awarded, of course. But the real prize is the atmosphere itself. It's a celebration of the unique bond between people and their canine companions.
You might see a tiny Chihuahua strutting its stuff next to a lumbering Great Dane. All vying for a moment in the spotlight. It’s a democratic affair, open to all. A testament to Felixstowe's enduring affection for its four-legged residents. So when you see a particularly proud owner beaming as their dog trots past, you are, in a small way, part of keeping that community spirit intact. Which is a rather good reason to be there.
