A landscape sculpted to replace what was lost

From the visitor centre’s glass, the reedbeds stretch, a vast, engineered wetland. This is Trimley Marshes, a landscape sculpted from former farmland in 1990, a major civil engineering project. It was built to replace the internationally important Fagbury Mudflats, lost to the expansion of the Port of Felixstowe. This land, then, is a deliberate, vital compensation.
